About
Our Farm
Dreamfarm
has been operating as a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm since
2004. CSA establishes a direct relationship between the farm share members
and the farmer. The result of this relationship educates the members about
how their food is produced and it gives the farmers an opportunity to
know who is purchasing their food. Supporting CSA puts your food dollars
into the local family farm economy.
It is important to Dreamfarm that we farm using sustainable methods, a
way that is “earth, people and animal friendly” and follow
organic guidelines.
In addition to our dairy goats and laying hens, we raise steers out on
pasture, keep a few cats for companionship and barn patrol, and have our
wonderful dog who guards the farm. We also raise Jacob sheep, a primitive
breed that has been in the U.S. only since the 1970s. We raise them for
their majestic nature, versatile wool and to help in the conservation
of this rare breed.
Springtime on the farm is exciting and very busy. The does (mother goats)
have their babies in March. This is when the milk production begins which
leads to the seasonal production of our cheese. The sheep also lamb at
this time. The chicks that we brood through the winter begin to lay eggs
and they get moved to their summer pens out on pasture.
We invite our members to learn more about their food from our farm. If
you would like to visit, call and we can make arrangements.
Thank you for supporting family farms and Community Supported Agriculture.
