Fresh Organic Eggs
Chickens that live on
Dreamfarm are raised the way our ancestors would have cared for them.
Our hens spend the majority of their day on pasture and are free to scratch
for bugs, graze weeds and grasses, preen and lie down in the warmth of the
sun with plenty of room to spread their wings.
Because chickens cannot survive on pasture alone, we provide certified organic
grain. However, pastured chickens will get up to 30 percent of their nutritional
needs from insects, grass, clover and other greens. As a result of this
kind of diet, their eggs have higher amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin
E, vitamin A, folic acid and carotenoids and half the cholesterol. (see:
Mother Earth News magazine, Oct/Nov 2007 issue)
When you open a carton
of our eggs you will see a beautiful display of egg shell colors. We raise
a variety of chickens, each breed (and individual chicken) has their own
shell color. The color of the shell has no connection to the quality of
the contents. It goes back to what the chickens eat!
Eggs are picked,
hand-washed, boxed and labeled daily.
Dreamfarm is experimenting with raising some rare breeds of chickens which
include Buttercup, Lakenvelder and Cuckoo Maran. We hope to play a role
in the dedication to the preservation of genetic resources.
Eggs are certified
organic by MOSA (Midwest Organic Services Association)
